Large, beautiful home
We had a fantastic stay at Sandpiper. It is in a wonderful location, extremely close to the beach. And, we fit 13 adults and 3 children there very comfortably. There were also 5 other adults who came over to visit from a different place, and even with everyone in the house it never felt crowded.
The bikes, beach chairs, porches, and kitchen made our vacation comfortable, relaxing, and fun. I would highly recommend staying there.
The bunk room is a great addition
We visited before the remodel a while ago and really liked it. But now we love it!
The bunk room is a great addition with room for 8 kids. There is even a full bed in there for adults to sleep in if your group is without kids. 6 bedrooms and a futon in the downstairs tv area make this a great house for a big group.
(Owners Note: full bed mentioned above is now a Queen)
Love the great outdoor living areas, one screened in and both with ceiling fans. The open kitchen and dining area is great too! Love the amenities! So beautiful with all the live oaks, beach, and quiet neighbors!
Beyond perfect for our extended family of 13! The updates this year were incredible!!
Loved the screened in patio
Spacious and comfortable house that was perfect for our group’s weekend get away.
Easily walkable to the beach. Loved the screened in patio, kitchen, outdoor shower, and pictionary!
Perfect Beach Spot!!
This home is just perfect if you are making a visit with family and friends to Jekyll Island! 2 nice beds and baths on the main floor with a huge comfortable family room and kitchen, a great back porch and then more great space downstairs with beds galore!!
You are literally steps from the ocean! The new market is great and don’t leave without eating at Zachary’s Riverhouse!
Wonderful week in the sandpiper!!
Beautiful house and wonderful location. My family enjoyed it so much that we want to go back.
This home is perfect for a large group. We had several family members, including kids, and we all had our own bedrooms and bathrooms, so it never felt crowded. The updated house is open and spacious, including the outdoor spaces. We spent many evenings on the large screened in porch.
If you enjoy cooking while on vacation, this is one of the most well-stocked kitchens I have ever been in. No need to bring anything from home. We also traveled with our dogs and the outdoor shower was the perfect place for everyone (two and four-legged) to rinse off.
The home was awesome, and Mike and Lara are so easy to work with – we hope to stay here again next summer! Thank you so much for sharing your home with us!!

Live Oaks give Sandpiper Cottage great character
Large and roomy for large groups. Great beach access on a very private and beautiful stretch of beach.
All the live oaks and stone work give Sandpiper Cottage great character. Such a peaceful setting, yet so close to all the attractions on the island. You can choose which vacation you want- peace and quiet or non-stop beach fun. There is so much to see, you can’t do it all in one trip. And of you stay at Sandpiper, you will want to come back!
Wonderful week in beautiful home
We had a great experience without glitches or issues. Will stay again.
Golf on Jekyll Island
It’s not the same house! Great improvements! It was fun to walk through the house and see the changes throughout the house. Outside patio was great. We appreciate your allowing us to stay in your home while we play golf. It is certainly very, very comfortable for us. Thank you again.
Best beach rental I’ve encountered!
What a gorgeous house so close to the beach! All the amenities you could want and very responsive owners. I will be renting from them again.
Another great Spring Break at Jekyll’s Sandpiper. Love the renovations!
Had everything we need!!
Very comfortable, everyone slept well, lots of room to have some space to yourself!!! Had everything we need!!
The location is perfect
We used to this home in April 2015 for our wedding. The location is perfect and they house is large enough that everyone had plenty of their own space. The owners were extremely kind and responsive. I would highly recommend it!
We would recommend their place to anyone
Lara was great in explaining their home and helpful with all my questions. I had no qualms about reserving their home, which was very nice, comfortable, and exactly as expected.
The neighborhood was quiet (we worried that our laughter would be more of a problem!) and everything on the Island is convenient. The home was spacious and comfortable.
We would recommend their place to anyone. Lara and Mike made both their home and the preparations for getting there an easy experience to enjoy.
Paradise Found at Sandpiper Cottage
A group of ladies I work with were lucky enough to come and enjoy this wonderful home and Island. We enjoyed the large great room and dining area. The home is located close to a beach access bridge. We enjoyed touring the island on a guided 90 minute tour of homes and the Chapel. We loved Driftwood Beach at sunset with gorgeous colors. We did not want to leave paradise.
I’ve been renting houses for beach vacations for over 20 years and the Sandpiper was the best yet!
(Owner note: Since the remodel the bedroom configuration has changed and we have more bathrooms.)
This house is BIG. 3 bedrooms up and 3 down with 3 1/2 baths, full garage, 2 porches (one facing the ocean where my wife fell asleep for 6 hours!!). And the large living room is separate from the sleeping areas so big folks can be loud ( we watched the NBA championship game with a few yellers!) without waking the sleeping small folks.
56″ TV with cable and DVR were excellent. Books and games galore (I read one book while there). Bicycles in the garage as well as beach chairs and beach toys. Outside shower and water hose helped keep people and fishing gear clean. We even hung 4 hammocks in the big back yard.
The house was well stocked and clean. Found everything we needed. We thought it actually was better than the pictures described. For the owner: there was a leak in the side porch celling that showed up on the first day and last night. Believe it was just condensation from AC, but may need to check the drain line. Otherwise, no problems. The trash was picked up the 2nd day and the lawn was cut while we were at the beach. Overall, it was a great vacation with no complaints about the house from anyone of our 13 three generational family.
Perfect getaway for multiple families
Recently stayed at Sandpiper and thoroughly enjoyed our stay on Jekyll Island. Despite 8 adults and 6 kids throughout most of the week, Sandpiper provided ample space and we enjoyed the amenities of being near the beach and having bicycles (bring a tire pump) to ride to the Village Cafe in the morning. The only regret I have is that we couldn’t stay longer.
(Owner note: there is now a tire pump in the garage.)
Jekyll Spring Break 2016
ABSOLUTLEY LOVED IT!!! What a great house for our crew! Plenty of room for everyone and so many bathrooms. We have been renting houses in Jekyll for many years and have always had to bring (or rent) linens; providing them for your guests is amazing! Thanks again!
We were folks that brought our greyhounds to the Sandy Paws Greyhound gathering. All 9 of us enjoyed the house very much. It was a joy to have the beds made when we got there. To not have to supply your own linens. There were plenty of towels for everyone. And the kitchen was well equipped.
It was easy to walk our dogs everywhere and the beach was a short walk away. The only problem was a few lights were out. I was told about the kitchen light…but the light in the laundry was too. No big deal. We would definitely stay here again.
Iconic home on iconic island with lovely owners
Was the listing description accurate regarding the location, layout, amenities, etc ? yes. The downstairs apartment has 3 bedrooms and is more funky than the more elegant upstairs space. (owners note: bedroom layout slightly different since remodel)
Was the property clean and well-maintained ? yes Did the owner provide good customer service ? lovely service. accessible, accountable, friendly
Would you recommend this property to your friends or relatives ? it is an iconic beach home on an iconic island. Easy to like
What activities, attractions and restaurants did you like or dislike near by ? Sunrise on driftwood beach. biking. walking..all successful vacation time use. Cost is high for many families. Sum: For many family members, this offers a gracious home with lovely view of huge oaks covered in Spanish moss. The porch and balcony extend the sense of the home. The glass filled great room is a welcome way to share time with others. The location is superb.
The house, yard and location met our needs perfectly
Our son was getting married in Brunswick and we wanted a place for our side of the family to stay. All of us are from out-of-state, and some of us were there for a whole week. The house was great for a large group of guests – well stocked kitchen, comfortable great room, porches, back yard for games.
The beds were very comfortable and we had a fantastic time. Board games on the porch, charades in the living room, watched a few movies on the large tv, and people had privacy in the bedrooms too. Plenty of bathrooms, and hot water.
Internet access and steps from the ocean. We also played with the ladder golf set and the croquet set in the back yard. Bring your bicycle, as riding around Jekyll is a fun time. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
Girls Weekend Getaway
Our group of 10 women spent a long weekend at Sandpiper on Jekyll. The house was a perfect fit for our group – plenty of comfortable beds and bathrooms for everyone, with a good supply of towels.
The house is cozy and clean, but not too fancy, which was perfect for our group. We brought our own bikes and rode them on the wonderful trails all over the island. We spent a lot of time in the historic district and would recommend their museum and trolley tour as well as strolling through all the little cottages that are now unique shops. Lunch at Latitude 31 on the wharf was excellent. We also ate at the Wee Pub in the village area that was good. There is a wonderful grocery store there and several more shops in that area.
We would definitely return to this house with our group. However, it is a split level design, and would not be good for people with mobility problems, as there are steps going up to the living room and down to the rooms on the ground level.
Loved the big dining room table
The stairs presented a problem for us. Loved the big dining room table. Loved the huge great room and large-screen TV. Appreciate that you recycle.
Perfect place for large family
Perfect place for large family. We had 4 generations there and felt very comfortable. Lots a room for everyone. Close to beach. Large living space for games and conversation.
Couples Football Weekend
Our group of 10 met for a fun filled weekend of football and beach combing. All 5 couples had a great time in this great house. With private rooms for each of us (and one to spare) we never felt crowded.
The HUGE television made football watching perfect for our large group. The screened in porch made a great get away from all the bustle with a glass of wine for those less enthusiastic fans. The extra TVs make catching a glimpse of the less popular games possible without interrupting the main event.
The house was clean, comfortable and SO BIG! The kitchen made meal prep easy with everything you could ever need, plus some! The house is located on a quiet street steps from the beach, with a charming walk-over under the live oaks.
Plenty of beach towels, bath towels, and chairs for the beach mean we didn’t need to bring much to enjoy ourselves. Not even 5 minutes down the road, you find the new (and improved) shops on the island. So convenient and perfect for everyone! We are planning on making this an annual event.
Thanks, Lara and Mike, for making our rental experience easy and enjoyable. Look for us again next year!
Had a great time with my family and dogs. Plenty of room for everyone to sleep and get away from each other when they need to!
Very short walking distance to the beach. Loved being able to sit out and see the ocean from the balcony.
This house is great for any size family and some more. Definitely coming back and would recommend it to anyone.
What a fantastic home! Everyone had plenty of space. The dogs especially loved deer watching out the dining room window.
Highly recommend this home and Jekyll Island.
See Fireworks from the beach!
We had a wonderful stay at your beach house! There was plenty of room for everyone. It was a convenient location to the beach and other things to do on the island!
I would definitely recommend this house! We could see Jekyll Island and St. Simons Island Fireworks from the beach!
Excellent stay, very comfortable and spacious. One problem was with the toilet flushings and their draining (used a plunger on lower toilets).
(Note from owner: All toilets are new since our remodel.)
Friend Reunion Weekend Getaway
This rental is fantastic! The house had plenty of living space to accommodate 10+ comfortably with a large family room and deck. The neighborhood is secluded and quiet but still close to restaurants and only a short walk from the beach down an access path.
If you’re looking for a home away from home and not the touristy hotel feel this is the place to stay. All of the guests in our party raved over wanting to come back in the future.
Great place for our family reunion!
We had 10 adults (including 3 college-age students) and two preschool children – all were very comfortable. My elderly mother opted not to come; good thing, because the split-level steps would have been hard for her.
The beach path is a short walk over the dune, though the close path down to the beach is on boulders. A path with steps is one block over, and we opted for that after the first walk.
March temperatures were in the 70s; we loved touring Jekyll and St. Simons. Plenty for everyone to do. Definitely recommended!
Holiday Family Reunion
My family had a family reunion at Sandpiper for the holidays. Wonderful time had by all and plenty of room to accommodate three families ages from 8 to 88.
The kitchen was well stocked, with enough room for a few “chefs” to create a beautiful Christmas turkey dinner.
Great spaces for hanging out, just catching up, playing games or reading a book. And for those who need it WiFi. The balcony is a great place to relax for a morning cup of tea/coffee or evening cocktails. Love hearing the sound of the waves!
Sandpiper was clean and ready when we arrived. The beds are comfortable.
Jekyll Island during the holidays a pretty winter wonderland with its light displays. We even saw two dolphins on a Christmas morning beach walk. Everyone enjoyed exploring the Island and all it had to offer. Definitely we will be back.
UGA Fans from Roswell
We had a great experience. Short walk to the beach and very quiet. Awesome long weekend. We will definitely consider renting again.
The house lacked nothing
Our family stayed a week at Sandpiper and it was perfect for us. The age range was from 10 y.o. to 93 y.o. All of our needs were met as the house lacked nothing.
The stroll to the beach from the house was down a beautiful quaint path to a wonderful and expansive sandy beach. Bike rides to the local market and the historical district were a lot of fun. The home was clean and comfortable. The setting was private, quiet and peaceful. We all felt very grateful for our time there.
110% thrilled with this house and the lovely owners
We rented this house at spring break to visit with our family who live on Jekyll and to accommodate 3 families – 6 adults and 6 kids. The layout and bedrooms were perfect for us and everyone was very happy with their rooms.
The large living room was ideal for reading, lounging, visiting and watching tv (briefly in the mornings before heading out for the day.) The porch decks were great for a morning breakfast or quick lunch.
As a cook and baker, I wasn’t sure whether the kitchen would have everything to make Easter dinner so I packed a bunch of things I never needed. I was able to cook and bake all week without any issues. The large table in the dining area was big enough for most meals (we had 14-16 ppl some evenings.) We did bring a 2x4ft folding table to add to the end to give us a bit more room. Overall, it was ideal and we dyed more than 100 easter eggs with the kids!
(owners note: house remodeled after this stay. Next paragraph no longer applies.)
The upstairs is definitely more updated than the lower level. The older kids set up their gaming system on the lower level tv area which worked out quite well. The small bathroom near the garage is definitely not as large or updated as the upstairs bath, but a family of 5 shared it and it worked out ok.
This property was ideal for accessing the beach down a short path. I would say that someone with mobility issues would not be able to walk down the rocks to the beach itself even with the rope railing. We had no problems at all and used our folding wagon to haul our things down the path and then parked it at the top of the sand hill. We used the beach chairs and some toys ~ and ended up accidentally leaving toys and boogie boards in the garage. Hopefully they will get a lot of use until we get back next year!
Loved having the garage to lock up our bikes at night, too. The amenities listed were exactly as described. Great towels and linens. Plenty of blankets. Having the washing machine and dryer was a bonus so we could keep up with the wet towels from the beach. We could not have asked for a better way to enjoy Jekyll Island with our family this year. We made so many memories that will last us a lifetime…but we intend to add more of them at this house in the future because it’s just that awesome! Thank you, Lara!!
Serenity at the Beach
A group ladies from work took a long weekend and stayed at the Sandpiper cottage. We enjoyed the large great room upstairs for movies. The home was very neat and clean. The home was stocked with plenty of towels for baths.
The kitchen was recently remodeled with granite counter tops. We all had seperate bedrooms, which was amazing to a find 6 bedroom home on Jekyll. Their are bikes in garage if you want to ride on paths.
We enjoyed a very peaceful weekend. Tours of old cottages and the Chapel was great. Thanks to the owners for allowing us to enjoy our time at the beach in their home.
70th birthday family reunion
Very nice home, easy access to beach, very spacious. Had family here to celebrate a 70th birthday family reunion. Family from Philippines, Ohio and Texas was here. Really enjoyed staying in your place. Will consider using it again.
This is a fantastic home only steps from the beach. I stayed there with 13 of my close friends and we had a wonderful time. Everything was clean when we got there and everyone had a place to sleep. The landlords are kind, easy going people and I would certainly rent from them again.
The house was very spacious and accommodating for all of us. Loved the trail to the beach. Would go there again.
This was by far the best vacation my family has been on. The home was large enough for all five of my children to have their privacy when they needed it. We enjoyed the family room and eating area, the kitchen was wonderful and we did not need for anything when cooking!
I would recommend this property, I give it a five star rating for feeling like a home and not just a house for vacation. The kids said they would come back next year and they usually want to go somewhere else so that speaks for itself.
