We spent a week on Jekyll this summer visiting my parents and my sister’s family. Two boys attended Turtle Camp at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center. Here are some of our day-to-day activities.
Great beach day. Sunny skies with a few white fluffy clouds. Waves are the right size for us to use boogie boards, with folks using paddle boards just a little further out, while the pelicans are diving for lunch.
Those dots are our kites. Great day too fly them, with the breeze blowing of the water they lifted into the air right out of our hands.
Found a friend on the beach!
Ran out of hot dogs buns, so we headed up to the Beach Village. Quick stop in the Jekyll Market. Then ducked into a couple stores where we purchased a few souvenir t-shirts.
Sunset view from the beach.
This evening we road the bike trail on the north loop of the island, about 12 miles. Headed north on Beachview, biked through the salt water marsh, then along Riverview with the Inter-coastal waterway to our right. On through the Historic District, before we hit a couple of wooden bridges that cut through the marsh. At this point we cut across the island and headed back on the trail right next to the beach.
Great week at the beach!
