The Wharf – Shrimp, Songs, and Sunsets
A new restaurant in an old location. The Club Hotel took over the management of this restaurant, which reopened in the Fall of 2017 after remodeling. It has a new name and a totally revamped menu. The Wharf sits on the pier near the Club, with spectacular views of the intracoastal waterway and the saltwater marshes beyond. Wonderful at sunset. Watch the birds or an occasional boat as it sails down the Jekyll River. You can select window seating inside or sit at an outside table on the pier.
At a recent meal, people from our party enjoyed crab cakes, bacon-wrapped shrimp, an iceberg wedge, and a burger. The seasoning on the fries is particularly tasty. The crab cakes were very good, but some would think of this meal as a small plate. The portions of some meals leave room for appetizers and dessert, both of which are sure to be tasty, but you may find yourself spending a bit more. We all enjoyed our meals and plan to return.
Live bands perform from 6 PM – 10 PM Wednesdays, 6 PM – 9 PM Thursday – Saturday, 1 PM – 4 PM Sunday. The bands set up out on the pier, making for a pleasant place to relax with a drink, either before or after your meal. You might even stop by the bar just for drinks and music.
The restaurant is open Tuesday through Sunday 11:30 AM – 9:30 PM, with the bar staying open until 11 PM during the week and 12 AM on Friday and Saturday evenings. Their website says reservations are accepted, but most people are walk-ins.
